Our in house program organizes participants in the following categories, by grade instead of birth year. Participants are categorized by the grade they will be entering in the upcoming school year.
Pre-K
K-1st
2nd-3rd
4th-5th
6th-8th
Practice & Game Cadence:
Pre K: The season will comprised of 1 night a week of soccer. 1 hour will be separated into 30 minutes of practice and 30 minutes of a game.
K-8: The season will be comprised of 2 nights a week of soccer: 1 weekly practice and 1 game/week for the duration of the summer season.
Minimum Enrollment for standard programming: 30 participants
Mixed gender teams are standard for grades Pre-K through 1st.
Mixed vs. separated gender teams for grades 2nd-3rd will be determined based on enrollment numbers and feedback from families after the 2024 registration.
Separated gender teams are preferred for grades 4 and above, but are subject to the enrollment.
Team Organization: When a grade group passes the minimum enrollment threshold, the associated coordinator will organize participants into teams, taking into consideration the following:
Friend requests (one friend request max, preferably mutual)
Participation in other sports
Other Requests
Note - these requests will be accommodated to the best of our ability, but no requests are guaranteed.
In the event that a grade group does not exceed the minimum enrollment for standard programming, the Boosters Soccer program will put in place alternative programming.
Group Play
If there is a minimum of 20 participants who have signed up for the program, we will combine all players to form 1 team. The team will have practices together following the standard programming model. However when it comes to games, we will offer either of the following:
Inter-team games - games will be played within the larger team, with rotating teams comprised of players from the larger team
Inter-city games - games will be played against teams of similar age/skill set from immediately surrounding city in-house programs.
Futsal Play
If there is a minimum of 10 participants who have signed up for the program, we will offer a program featuring futsal-style play.
Futsal is the FIFA-recognized form of small-sided indoor football (the word is a contraction of the Spanish 'fútbol sala'). It is played between two teams who each have five players on the pitch at any one time, with rolling substitutes and a smaller ball than soccer that is harder and less bouncy.
This program will be run by a volunteer coach and will run the duration of the season with a combination of games and minimal skill development.
