In-House Frequently Asked Questions

In-House FAQs

How are teams formed?

The coordinators spend a lot of time trying to form well-balanced teams based on gender, age, and experience.

What nights will my child have practices and games?

Coordinators do not have control over which evening your child will have practice.

  • Practice nights are determined by field availability and the volunteer coach’s availability.
  • Summer game nights are selected in the spring (based on field availability) and are posted on the website as soon as the information is available.

At a minimum there will be one practice per week and one game, weather permitting.

What is the jewelry policy?

For the safety of all players, no jewelry of any kind is allowed. This includes bracelets, necklaces, hard headbands and all earrings. Please do not pierce your child’s ears just before or during the soccer season. Taping of ears is not allowed and any player not adhering to these rules will not be allowed to play.

How long is the in-house soccer season?

Summer soccer practices begin in late May. Games are held one evening per week in June and July.

What ages participate in in-house soccer? What happens when they are too old for in-house?

Our summer in-house program is for kids ages 4-12

How do I determine in which age group my child belongs?

Our in-house program is broken down into grade-specific levels (at time of registration):

How do I volunteer to coach?

Our coaches are all volunteers. They are required to complete our paperwork, concussion training, and background checks to be eligible to coach. You can find out more information on the coaches corner tab on the soccer website.  In the spring we offer an optional coaching clinic where coaches can learn fun drills/games to incorporate into practices. We also have plenty of experienced coaches who are willing to share their knowledge with new coaches.

Can families request a specific coach?

In order to form balanced teams and to ensure that there are enough coaches for all teams, we do not consider requests for coaches.

Who are the referees?

The referees are youth, teenagers and adults that have been certified by the Minnesota State Referee Committee after completing a class. They are qualified, but for some of the younger referees, this is their first job and they are learning as they go.

I don’t live in the St. Anthony/New Brighton school district. Can my child participate in your program?

At this time, we welcome everyone to play in our in-house program, regardless of where you live. However, that could change if the program grows too large, due to our limited field space in St. Anthony. The traveling program does give priority to school district residents.
